HappyTap Vietnam: Partnerships Manager
*** Applications are now closed for this position. ***

ABOUT US
Hi!👋We are a multinational social enterprise.
We use the term "enterprise" because we are using sales growth and market development in order to achieve our "social" vision: a world where everyone can wash their hands at key moments in order to prevent disease.

Something like, (📈💰)+(❤️🌏🙌🧼💧)= Social Enterprise.

We mass-produce the world's leading standalone hand washing station, the HappyTap. During COVID-19, our sales dramatically increased through partnerships with governments and NGOs, and over 50,000 HappyTaps are now washing hands in schools, households, and healthcare facilities around the world (Vietnam, US, Canada, Kenya, India, Madagascar, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and elsewhere).

We are looking for a Vietnamese professional to join our small but growing multinational team. The Vietnam Partnerships Manager will help us continue to build partnerships with NGOs and government departments in Vietnam, while also identifying new strategic distributors to increase the availability of our product.

APPLICATION DEADLINE
We are reviewing applications and calling for interviews on an ongoing basis. Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview within 1 to 2 days of submitting their application.

We recommend you apply no later than September 9th. Please note: If we find a good match we may take down this job posting before this stated deadline.

THE PROBLEM
Over the last 2 years, about $1 billion has been spent telling people how and when to wash their hands. But you can't wash your hands with a poster, and installing plumbing and sinks take time, money, and expertise. Without nearby sinks, habits can't form.

A study found that doctors in Canada are unlikely to wash their hands without a sink within 7 meters and line of sight. What about busy parents or kids at schools?

OUR SOLUTION
...is to make a sink that is much easier and cheaper to set up. The HappyTap is a standalone hand washing station that can be set up in minutes by anyone anywhere it is needed. (Scroll down for a video).

Its 18L tank and water-efficient spout gives up to 70 hand washes per refill, no plumbing required -- though our users do need to arrange to refill the tank a couple times a week.

HOW DO YOU FIT IN?
As our partnerships manager, you will work with our small multinational team to build a market for handwashing stations in Vietnam. To be successful at scale, we will need to explore and form partnerships with a range of organizations -- in trading & marketing; in school and health care sectors; and with relevant government departments and NGOs/NPOs.

Some of our partnerships in Vietnam are well underway; many are still in the early stages of exploration.

In this role, you'll be moving between strategic questions about what we should do and tactical questions about how we can do it and whether it's working.

Most other business challenges you face in your career will be boring and easy by comparison -- that's been our experience so far, anyways.

YOU SHOULD APPLY IF ...
You're passionate about marketing, public health, and problem solving, and you're ready to help make a difference and build a business to prevent disease across Vietnam; and

You are interested in the fast pace and flexibility of a start-up environment, and want to hone your entrepreneurial skills.

Your role will be working with our multinational team to
  • Identify strategies and partnerships to grow our business in healthcare facilities, schools, and households in Vietnam.
  • Lead discussions with potential partners in government, NGO/NPOs, and the private sector; identify ways we can work together.
  • Run a range of sales experiments -- these could be online or offline; targeting households or institutions; working with partners, or with our own sales team. URGE FOR ACTION
  • Evaluate these experiments. Learn from what doesn't work. Help us scale up what does.

WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR
  • Endorsed by the Vietnam Association of Pediatricians. The HappyTap helps new parents wash their hands more to protect themselves and their young, poopy babies with sensitive immune systems. The HappyTap is a kid-friendly, easy-to-reach hand washing station for kids as young as 30 months.
  • Successfully introduced to healthcare facilities in India, Kenya, Cambodia, and Papua New Guinea to help doctors and nurses wash hands and protect themselves and their patients from spreading infections. In Vietnam, we are about to launch a pilot with the WHO in three healthcare facilities.
  • Our "one HappyTap per classroom" campaign has helped schools to reopen safely in Vietnam, Cambodia, Madagascar, India, and the US and UK, with the support of UNICEF, leading NGOs/NPOs, and national Ministries of Education.

SALARY RANGE
Depending on experience, aptitude, and negotiations, expected salary is between 35m VND to 55m VND per month.

Problem solving
Brainstorming exercise: choose one of our customer segments (1. Low-income households; 2. healthcare facilities; 3. schools; or 4. make up your own).

Write your chosen customer segment below.
Brainstorm why "yes": Think of all the reasons your target customer might say "yes" to buying a HappyTap for $30.

List as many reasons as you can think of in 5 minutes. They can be silly or serious -- "no wrong answers in a brainstorm."
Brainstorm why "no": Now, brainstorm all the reasons a customer in that segment might say "no" to buying a HappyTap for $30.

Same rules -- list as many reasons as you can think of in 5 minutes, the more the better.
Now, prioritize: what are the top reasons someone in this segment might say "yes", and what are the top reasons why s/he might say "no" to buying a HappyTap?

List no more than the top 2 reasons.
Tell us a bit about how you chose your top "yes" and top "no" reasons.
Imagine you get this job. Two years from now, looking back, what are the kinds of things you want to have learned?
